I love to read! Love it. It's hard for me to find books to read on my own though. I'm lost without suggestions. I pick up books at the library wondering if this book that I know nothing about would be worth my time. So I was excited that our Book Cub was starting up again. The last time we met was in the Spring so when we finally got together this week the discussion was hardly stimulating but the food sure was! Let me clarify-the book discussion was hardly stimulating, no one could remember this book from 5 months ago. But the tangents from the discussion were amusing. I've been on a reading binge lately. Traci asks me when I have time to read and somehow I just do. You tend to make time for those things you really want to do. Which doesn't give me much of an excuse for those things I should be doing but don't. Anyway, an author I've been enjoying a lot lately is Shannon Hale. "Goose Girl" and "Princess Academy" are a couple of her Young Adult books but "Austenland" is a book for all those Colin Firth-Pride and Prejudice fans. Fun reads. I thought I'd post our Book Club selections for the next year.
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather
Austenland by Shannon Hale
The Ladies Auxiliary By Tova Mirvis
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
ISAAC'S STORM by Erik Larson
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
Any other good reads out there that you'd recommend?

Krista,
You and Traci have always been readers. I know you didn't get it from me so it must be your Mom. But I have been known to read a whole book at one sitting so I must have had some influence. Now if it was TV you loved then I would have to take credit for that. DAD
Thanks for the great suggestions! I've heard of Goose Girl, and I am completely obsessed with Pride and Prejudice AND Colin Firth, so Austenland is right up my alley! I just finished Little Women, which I'd never read before or seen the movie, and I love, love, loved it! So that is my suggestion for you.
